Twin Folding Endurance Tester

Twin folding or double fold tester operates according to the Schopper Principle for determining the folding endurance of paper. Capable of testing 2 samples simultaneously. Primarily used for testing security papers.

This instrument measures the folding endurance of sheet material and is a good indicator of how material will perform after repeated bending, folding and creasing.

Based on the original design of Louis Schopper, the Twin Folding Endurance Tester incorporates a drive and cooling system with the testing temperature being monitored through a sensor in the measuring head.

The results of folding tests are always subject to variation due to natural variations in the sample quality. A larger series of tests is therefore needed to obtain reliable mean values. To help speed this process, the Twin Folding Endurance Tester is designed to test two samples simultaneously.

The case is equipped with a supporting plate with two folding heads and appropriate spring cases attached. The fold counters and operator controls are mounted on the front plate and the drive is incorporated in the lower section of the casing.

Mounted in high-precision side-ball rails that ensure snap-free load and stable running. After the rupture of the specimen, a switching unit automatically returns the folding knives to the start position so that a new specimen can be loaded.

  • Three models are available for paper, board and cigarette paper
  • The twin measuring heads allow two tests to be carried out simultaneously
  • Capable of testing paper thickness up to 0.25 mm as standard (other thicknesses possible, on request)
