Tobias MTI Mottle Analyser

Light reflectance based testing machine using a highly sensitive diffusion probe to objectively analyse print mottle that can result in offset printing. Gives a single Mottle Index value and more detailed analysis so is deal for both quality control and research.

Light reflectance based test instrument using a highly sensitive diffusion probe to objectively analyse print mottle that can result in litho offset printing. Gives a single Mottle Index value and more detailed analysis so is suitable for both quality control and research.

The model MTI is a compact bench-top system and come complete with its own screen. No additional PC required. To use, attach one, two or three samples may be to the scanning drum. Once variable sampling parameters are set through the unit keyboard, the scanning analyzer automatically measures across the width of the drum as the drum rotates. Measurements are made to a sensitivity of 0.001 density units.

A complete drum scan takes place in less than two minutes. Results in the form of a mottle index number and bar graph can be exported to a printer as well as displayed.
The system, although very simple to operate, employs a number of sophisticated techniques to assure significance and reproducibility of the results. The built-in microprocessor system applies various degrees of digital filtering to the data which has been found to help separate unavoidable printing irregularities from the observed mottle. In addition, a wide variety of sampling techniques may be easily set to meet different testing demands.
