TestLink Data Management Software
Windows based test data management software. Acquires data from different test equipment, compares data with user defined limits. Eliminated transcription errors and automates data collection and comparision.
TestLink is data management software that reduces the cost of acquiring, displaying, analyzing, storing and publishing test results. TestLink compares data to user defined
limits and prior measurements within a customer created test plan. TestLink eliminates data transcription errors and automates data collection, comparison and document publication.

TestLink Overview
The problem
Most users operate their test instruments as a stand alone devices. Test results are available only on the instrument’s display or printout. Test results must be copied to a test log and are often re-copied to a final report.
Transcribing the data delays its availability and is a potential source of errors that can lead to incorrect conclusions about material properties.
Delays in receiving test results can hold up customer shipments or delay implementation of necessary process changes.
The solution
Most test instruments are capable of transmitting data through their RS-232 port or other serial data connections.
TestLink software allows a PC to:
- acquire data from a test instrument through a direct cable or network connection
- display test data on a PC from one or more test instruments
- display test data on multiple PC’s
- display data as the test occurs-no delays
- analyse test results
- compare test results to target values and limits
- store test results for later use
- The test data is displayed on the PC without delay
- Alternate (manual) data input
If an instrument doesn’t have an RS-232 or other serial data output, the data can be entered manually into a bar code reader for transmission to the PC.
Suitable test instruments
TestLink acquires data from any instrument with an RS-232 serial port. This includes, but is not limited to, test instruments made by: Testing Machines Inc. and Messmer Buchel
Data storage
- In a single PC system, the data is stored on the hard drive
- In a multi-user/multi-instrument configuration, the data is centrally located on a server. This simplifies data security, password protection data back-up and can be configured to allow multiple users to view the data.
Using the data
In addition to TestLink’s built-in tables and graphs, it can export data to other programs such as:
- Microsoft Excel, Word or other MS Office applications
- SPC software
- Crystal Reports
- Business information systems
This export feature allows users to create and modify their own reports and presentations without requiring costly custom programming.
Configuration
TestLink is flexible in its initial configuration and upgrade potential. Test Link can be set up as:
- a single instrument connected to a single PC
- multiple instruments connected to a single PC
- multiple instruments connected to a PC Server
- database that can be accessed by multiple PC’s.
Licenses for additional instruments and users can be added at any time.
