PERME W3/330 Water Vapour Transmission Rate Testing System

For measuring the water vapour transmission rate of plastic film, laminated film, and other flat sheet materials. Ideal for testing finished packaging made from plastic, rubber, paper, glass, metal and other materials.

  • The PERMETM W3/330 is designed for measuring the water vapour transmission rate of plastic film, laminated film, and other flat sheet materials. It is also suitable for testing finished packaging made from plastic, rubber, paper, glass, metal and other materials.

Microsoft ® Windows ® operating system based software control with one master base unit that is capable of supporting up to nine satellite modules.

Standards
Complies with: ISO 15106-3, GB/T 21529, DIN 53122-2

Features

  • Patented configuration design of the chambers
  • Three different samples can be tested simultaneously using the three independent testing cells to give three respective results.
  • The cells can be connected together to enlarge the testing area for high barrier materials
  • One master base can support nine satellite modules enabling 30 different samples to be tested simultaneously
  • Master base and satellite modules have the same testing capability
  • Two   testing functions for flat film, sheets and for finished packages
  • Built-in temperature and humidity controllers
  • Both heating and cooling functions are available
  • Temperature and humidity are adjustable, multiple testing methods are available
  • RS232 data output
  • Sophisticated powerful software – multiple testing modes, single-button operation, proportional, non-proportional, cycle, manual and many other testing modes
  • Data can be stored by the software and exported to a spreadsheet format
  • Historical data can be searched, compared, and re-analysed
  • Web transmission port supports data sharing via LAN network as well as Internet
  • Can be calibrated using reference film

Testing principle
The pre-conditioned specimen is mounted between the upper & lower testing cells and clamped tightly. Nitrogen, with constant humidity, flows across one side of the specimen, and dry nitrogen flows across the other side of the test specimen.

Water vapour passes down the humidity gradient, through the specimen and enters the lower humidity side. The dry nitrogen, then transports the water vapour to the sensor. The water vapour transmission rate is then calculated from the electrical signals generated by the sensor.

When package testing, the dry nitrogen flows inside the package, and constant humidity nitrogen flows around the outside of the package before passing to the sensor.
