PERME VAC-VBS Gas Permeability Tester
For measuring the gas transmission rate of films, foils and high barrier sheet materials with respect to permanent gases, air, oxygen, nitrogen and particularly carbon dioxide.
The VAC-VBS measures the gas transmission rate of films, foils and high barrier sheet materials and is capable of measuring the transmission rate of permanent gases, air, oxygen, nitrogen and particularly carbon dioxide.
The test result is the average value from testing with all 3 chambers.
The instrument is sensitive and highly linear with a measuring range of 0.1 – 100,000 cm3/m2/day.

Principle
A preconditioned test specimen is clamped between the upper chamber and the lower chamber of a test cell. A vacuum is applied first to the low-pressure lower chamber and then to the whole system.
When the specified vacuum is reached, the lower test chamber is shut off and the test gas is fed at the selected pressure to the upper high pressure test chamber.
Ensuring that a constant differential pressure (adjustable) is maintained across the specimen, under the gradient of differential pressure the test gas permeates from the high-pressure side to the low-pressure side. The pressure in the low-pressure side is monitored in real time and the rate of transmission is calculated.
