At Tendring Pacific we offer a refreshing, customer focused approach to the supply of specialist quality control, testing instruments and consumables to manufacturers in the food and beverage industry.

We are the exclusive UK distributor for a number of key suppliers of test equipment, including Dansensor, the world leading manufacturer of quality gas instrumentation equipment. Within the vibrant and competitive food sector we are industry experts and a trusted supplier to companies such as Dairy Crest, Mission Deli and 2 Sisters Food Group, to name but a few.
Tendring pacific is 100% privately owned and has been sustainably successful since its foundation. The past few years in particular have seen growth of 20% pa and projected 2018 sales are in the region of £3m.
Located in Sawston, on the southern edge of Cambridge, but our reach is across the whole of the UK.

The Role
External Sales Manager for Dansensor MAP Monitoring Equipment
Territory: UK mainland & N. Ireland

The role of Dansensor external sales manager reports to the managing director and sits within our Dansensor sales and service team, the largest in Tendring pacific’s business.

Both sales and service are capable of significant further growth and this key role has the opportunity of taking advantage of the combination of a rapidly changing market, a leading product range and ongoing mentorship from the managing director. This, in conjunction with your own learning and development program through ongoing skills and product training, will enable you to grow professionally into a true industry expert.

The ability to sell, as well as build and maintain long term relationships at all levels, is crucial for the further development of our current customer base and for creating long term growth for us within key food production groups.

You will have to be flexible, intuitive and switched-on in your sales approach and both strategic and considered in how you go about growing key accounts.

While based at our office near Cambridge and as part of our integrated cross-functional team approach to sales, this is primarily an external role with regular visits to production plants across the UK.

The Person

  • 3+ years’ experience in equipment sales, food processing, proactive customer service, or an engineering service role is essential
  • Experience in either food, or beverage related industries a benefit
  • Ability to identify, open and develop new accounts
  • Ability to maintain long-term relationships with customers and, very importantly, with our principal
  • Lateral thinker, with the ability to confidently and comfortably explore real customer needs when presented with enquiries
  • Enthusiastic, confident, polite and persistent
  • Bright, engaged and entrepreneurial outlook
  • Competency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office
  • Current driving license & willingness to travel as necessary within UK and occasionally to Denmark.

Apprenticeship LogoAt Tendring pacific we think it is very important to help young people acquire the skills they need for successful & satisfying working lives in the future.

Our first Apprentice engineer joined us in October 2012 and is making excellent progress. It has been an incredibly positive and rewarding experience for all concerned and we will be continuing our involvement with the Apprenticeship Scheme in the future  – and hopefully increasing the numbers we can take on.

Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes with on-the-job training and qualifications, which lead to nationally recognised qualifications.

Partly funded through the National Apprenticeship Service and designed by the Sector Skills Councils, they take between 1-4 years to complete and there are three levels of Apprenticeship available – Intermediate, Advanced and Higher

Our role as employer is to give our Apprentice an induction into their role, provide on-the-job training and pay their wages, based on the number of hours per week we’ve agreed, as part of our Apprenticeship Agreement.
